Among all the illicit substances on the market, crystal methamphetamine commonly known among users as crystal meth, ice, meth, shabu or speed among other terms,is one of the most addictive and brain damaging drug available today.

Identifying the substance is easy as it is often found in small white crystals, shiny glass looking fragments or in powder form. The drug can be taken orally, smoked, snorted or dissolved and injected.

Created in illegal labs by combining a mixture of relatively easy to obtain chemicals, homemade meth has become a considerable problem to Malaysian communities and society overall, resulting in widespread addiction and related incidents.

Meth it’s a cheap, fast-acting stimulant that derives its extremely powerful effects by pushing the production of dopamine in the brain. It is so powerful that it is instantly habit-forming, paving the way for extended consumption and addiction.

Those consuming the drug will experience extended euphoria, self-confidence,increased energy levels, hyper alertness and talkativeness. These are all signs to pay attention to if you suspect a loved one is using the substance. Moreover, physical signs such as dilated pupils, increased heart rate, increased breathing rate, reduced appetite and increased sex drive will be present as well.

Its powerfulness causes a number of ugly and brain damaging effect on the consumer, which may develop a number of complications including the destruction of dopamine receptors in the brain, the damaging of episodic memory and executive functions resulting in distraction, impulsiveness, irritability, loss of focus, inappropriate social behavior, not to mention psychosis, where the user experience the same symptoms of schizophrenia, such as hallucination and altered perception of reality.

While ice is an exceptionally devastating drug that tops the list of addictions that a significant number of clients at Solace seek treatment from, it must be noted that alcohol, heroin, cocaine and other substances are also highly addictive and equally devastating.
