Aftercare Program

We call it the Solace Continuum - For 18 months post treatment.

Solace Asia Aftercare Program: The Solace Continuum

As soon as the patient has been discharged from treatment, be it primary or secondary; he/she will need to undergo further care. Recovery is a tough journey and one is not advised to trek it alone for there will be many challenges and the recovering addict is someone who is still highly vulnerable to relapse. Proper care and careful nurturing is required in order to ensure that the recovering addict, who has just recently been discharged gets to live a meaningful and comfortable life free from the addiction.

In lieu of this, Solace Asia has created a 18 month long aftercare plan, at a small fee, to bring the recovering addict from discharge to the first 18 months.

The Aftercare Program at Solace Asia

Online Support/ Solace Continuum

This is an online facility that provides aftercare for all ex-patients. The Solace Continuum has a number of features:

Weekly/Bi-Monthly Video Conferencing

Here ex-patients will be able to meet with others in the continuum. Issues that have arisen over the week as well as discussion on selected reading materials will form the basis of the online discussion forum. Wherever you are, rest assured that support is there during this arduous journey in early recovery. We use Skype/Google Hangouts as our medium for communicating this way. Google chat is also available on Android/I-phones – so one can attend the conferencing while on the move. This service is required on a weekly basis up to 3 months’ post-discharge, whereas bi-monthly liaisons begin thereafter.

Continuum Exercises

Aftercare also includes weekly exercises, which will be sent and assessed by the continuum clinical team, which comprises both RSCs (Recovery Support Coaches) and a Continuum Counselor. These exercises will touch on various recovery-based topics of interest such as: interpersonal skills, active listening, giving and receiving feedback, non-verbal communication, assertion and refusal skills, negotiation and relationship building.

Referral to on-site Counselors

Should therapy be necessary during the course of the week; Counselors can be called in for a requested one-on-one session with the ex-client/patient. This too, can be facilitated via Skype/Google chat.

Assessments

The clinical team will also assess our ex-clients over various thresholds. The first threshold is 3 months after discharge, then 6 months, a year (12 months) and finally the last assessment will come after 18 months. This is to ensure that our ex-clients/patients are on the road to a stable and well-grounded recovery.

Solace Referral Clinics

At Solace Asia, your aftercare welfare does not just stop with online activities and communication. We care deeply about your continued growth in recovery and will do our best to ensure that you are taken care of beyond the confines of our treatment center. In lieu-of that, we can refer you to outpatient clinics, located worldwide so that you have continuity with ongoing therapy that’s necessary for lifelong healing. Long after the initial treatment, issues around trauma, codependency as well as comorbidities require continued psychological or psychiatric care. Hence, referring you to clinics in your own hometown and at your doorstep is essential and therefore, provided.

Self-Help Groups in Your Own Hometown

Part of our program are the nightly 12-step fellowships held onsite and beyond. We aim to see you continue with these fellowships beyond your stay here at Solace Asia. We will connect you with 12-step fellowships around the world, specifically ones closest to or in your own hometown so that you could use the fellowship to grow in your recovery. Self-Help groups like the 12-step meetings are essential to continued recovery because it provides one with a community of recovering addicts that struggle with similar issues as yourself to listen and share their experience, strength and hope around their lives in recovery. Should there not be any fellowships available in your hometown or nearby; we will connect you with either online skype meetings held worldwide, or provide you with support to start-up a meeting at home. Other self-help groups, can also be searched out for your continual growth should there be a need for them as well.

Identify a Mentor in your community

Sponsors or mentors are necessary as guides to a recovery program. In this vain, we are dedicated to helping you identify someone in your community to assist you in your recovery program. It’s always helpful to have the companionship and support of another person as you trudge down this road of self discovery. Active addiction was a lonely path of devastation, but now that you are in recovery, we need to work together to ensure your healing is whole. Therefore, connecting you with a mentor or a sponsor in your community is what we aim to do to facilitate your ongoing growth in this process. Knowledge that you are not alone and help is freely available whenever you need it, is important to have in order to feel safe, secure, loved; and will help you keep all that you have learnt and earned throughout your time with us at Solace Asia.

The range of our continuing care plans include, but are not limited to:

  • Random toxicology screening (drug testing).
  • An early warning system to reduce the risks and consequences of relapse. We believe that if a relapse can be caught early, the likelihood of recovery increases.
