INTERACTIVE SEMINAR ON NATIONAL LEVEL ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND RECOVERY COUNSELLING – UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA SABAH

September 10, 2024

Despite the country’s continuous effort to eradicate substance abuse, cases of individuals charged by the authorities for drug related offences are on the rise. The national Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) has detected 25,000 cases last year alone.

It is reported that there were 18,440 new cases while 7,482 were repeat offenders.

Nelson Mandela once said, “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. Indeed, a change is necessary.

Solace Asia or as we call ourselves, the Solace Family, has always recognized the phenomenal power of education. In the words of Dr. Prem Shanmugam, education is a fundamental requirement when working towards preventing drug abuse in our communities.

Various educational platforms and informative opportunities are organized throughout Malaysia on a monthly basis, where Solace’s addiction professionals are often invited to share their expertise.

Organized by the Faculty of Psychology and Education, the next edifying public seminar on the subject of Substance Abuse and Recovery Counselling, is opening its doors to the public on the 10th and 11th of October 2018  at the University Malaysia Sabah.

The objective of this assembly is to share knowledge on the issue of substance abuse, prevention methods and addiction treatment models available in Malaysia and the South East Asian region.

During the two days seminar, numerous government experts as well as private institutions are expected to be present.  Among them is Dr. Prem Shanmugam, who will take the stage to address the treatment model applied in Solace Asia, Asia’s leading treatment provider for addictions to drugs, alcohol, sex and gambling, where he acts as Clinical Director since the year 2014.

An event not to be missed for those interested in meeting representatives of Solace Asia and further their knowledge on the treatment model operated in the facility.
